To comparatively investigate the performance of the chemical drug Trichlorfon and the non-chemical Thyme on external parasites of common carp under laboratory conditions, pasteurized Shiraz Thyme extract with the active ingredient Thyme extract Thymol (1.111 mg in 100 mg) and Trichlorfon were used in twelve aquariums with 50 common carp fingerlings under standard farming conditions. The carp were examined for external single-celled and multi-celled parasites. The fish were treated in 8 treatment groups and one untreated control group with 3 replicates at 48-hour intervals, including 3 Trichlorfon treatments (concentrations of 0.25, 0.5, 1 mg), 3 Thyme treatments (concentrations of 200, 300, and 500 ml), two combined treatments (200 ml Thyme plus 0.5 mg Trichlorfon and 500 ml Thyme plus 0.25 mg Trichlorfon), and one untreated control group.
