Abstract:   (82 Views)
Today, the planning and management of green spaces have become an essential and critical subject in urbanism and urban management and achieving sustainable urban green space development requires appropriate managerial policies in political, economic, social, cultural, and environmental fields, along with the use of experienced and knowledgeable experts. Considering the vital role of the parks around Zayandehrud riverside in creating, maintaining, and dynamics in the city of Isfahan, this research aimed to investigate the effects of different green space management patterns on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of tree species planted along the Zayandehrud River in Isfahan. For this purpose, a strip-shaped area including 14 urban parks with an area of 156 hectares along the Zayandehrud River was selected. Black Locust (Robinia pseudacacia L.) and Ash (Fraxinus rotundifolia Mill.) species, which were dominant and common in the parks, were chosen for this study. Due to the parks being located within the urban fabric and the varying interventions of the implementer, a forest survey operation was conducted in each park. Three treatments were considered for each tree species: a zone with regular and proper intervention, a zone with moderate and irregular intervention, and a zone with low and unplanned intervention. Data was collected using the transect line sampling method, and quantitative (diameter at breast height and height) and qualitative (multi branch, crown health and presence of pest) characteristics of the trees were recorded in each sample plot. The results showed that among the studied treatments, the highest diameter at breast height was found in areas with high and regular intervention, while the greatest height was in areas with low and unplanned intervention. The most suitable qualitative characteristics were also observed in areas with the most beneficial and continuous intervention. In terms of quantitative characteristics and plantation success indicators, the Black Locust species was superior to the Ash species, whereas in terms of qualitative characteristics and aesthetic issues, the Ash species had a greater advantage
